Highways
Exning Parish Council does not have any jurisdiction over the highway – roads, footways, public rights of way, verges.
The principle authority for highway matters is Suffolk County Council. www.suffolk.gov.uk
The following highway issues can be reported directly using the Suffolk County Council online reporting tool:-
- Potholes and other road or footway defects
- Vegetation overhanging the highway, including footways
- Streetlighting malfunctions and other lit signage issues (you will require the sign identifying number)
- Road markings (yellow lines, white lines, zebra crossings, etc)
- Drainage and manhole cover damage
Streetlighting: Most of the parish streetlights are owned by Suffolk County Council.
However, there are a few which are owned by West Suffolk District Council or Flagship Homes.
Exning Parish Council also owns 19 streetlights located on North End and Windmill Hill.

Burwell Road layby: Exning Parish Council maintains the layby which was provided for resident parking between Burwell Corner and Iceni Way.
Street Furniture: Exning Parish Council supplies and maintains the following street furniture:
- All benches around the parish
- Noticeboards at Oxford Street, Chapel Street/Church Lane and Chancery Park play area
- The Exning Bookshare Kiosk at Lacey’s Lane/Ducks Lane
- Planters at Chapel Street/Swan Lane, Ducks Lane (the “Duck Pond”) and Burwell Road
- Village Signs at Burwell Road, Cemetery Hill, Windmill Hill
- The recreation ground sign on Chapel Street
Bus Shelters: Exning Parish Council owns and maintains all the bus shelters in the parish.
