Volunteers Needed – Exning Phone Box Library
The telephone box library at the bottom of Lacey’s Lane is in need of a librarian.
Established in 2017, the telephone box library was a project led by our local professional librarian in conjunction with Exning Parish Council. It has at times been a popular community resource and was kept in good order with weekly visits to tidy and organise the books and rotate the stock.
A change in circumstances means that a new volunteer or group is needed to ensure that the library is looked after. Without regular care the books become disordered, damaged by damp and the box can attract antisocial behaviour.
Unless we can establish the commitment of a new guardian, Exning Parish Council will consider alternative uses for the telephone box but these will be in keeping with the Council’s core values, consider the wider views of the community and be based upon the spirit of sharing and community that underpinned the original library idea.
If you want to commit to undertaking a once weekly tidy of the box, hold a little excess stock to rotate the books periodically and keep the damp in check please contact the Clerk to the Parish Council on the details below:
